§02

The research questions we address

These questions give a report its structure. They help readers examine the announcement rather than rely on the headline alone.

Q.01 → SOURCE

What happened, and which source supports the announcement?

Q.02 → CHANGE

What changed for the company, and how significant could that change be?

Q.03 → EXPECTATION

What was already expected or reflected in the market narrative?

Q.04 → UNCERTAINTY

What remains uncertain, and what additional evidence could change the interpretation?

§03 — CIS

The Catalyst Impact Score

The Catalyst Impact Score, or CIS, is Sigflow’s proprietary framework for assessing the potential significance and relative quality of a news catalyst. A score is presented with context so readers can understand the reasoning behind it.

Worth repeating: A significant event can be positive or negative for a company. A higher score does not mean that a stock should be bought or that its price will rise.

Halden Bio (fictional) — FDA approval decision

8.4CIS
MaterialityHigh
Surprise vs. expectedModerate
Source credibilityHigh
SpecificityHigh
PersistenceHigh

Approval converts a pipeline asset into a potential revenue line (materiality high). The decision date was public and a positive outcome was widely expected (surprise moderate). The company release is confirmed by the agency notice (credibility high) and names the indication and launch window (specificity high). Open uncertainties: label restrictions, launch timing, payer coverage.

One publication selected by Sigflow

The launch offering is one morning subscription. Event selection is made by Sigflow. Subscribers receive the same editorial coverage rather than requesting reports based on individual portfolios or repeatedly changing selection criteria.

Education and ongoing research

Our books and educational products explain research concepts. Morning intelligence applies a structured approach to selected news events in a recurring publication. They can be used independently. Purchases and access are separate unless an offer states otherwise.
